Neuman Lemont Riskedahl was born on January 13, 1923, near Alden, the son of Leonard and Tillie (Stokkeboe) Riskedahl. He attended schools near Walters and later in Alden. A severe accident in his teenage years and his recovery defined Neuman’s resolve to be a positive model and be active throughout his life. On August 8, 1946, Neuman was united in marriage to Dorothy Johnson. They lived in Florida briefly while he was stationed there in the Army Air Corps. Dorothy and Neuman then farmed together near Hartland until 1994. Neuman was a dedicated member of his church and active in his community. He enjoyed retirement, living in Albert Lea, and Bancroft Creek Estates. Neuman was a gregarious man who enjoyed friends, conversation, dancing, travel and a good game. A simple visit from Neuman delighted many a heart.

Neuman was loving and proud of his family: sons Donn (Carol) Riskedahl of Clarks Grove and Reed (Rita) Riskedahl of Marshalltown, IA; grandchildren Kia (Darin) Harries of Jackson, MN, Cindy (Jon) Stelter  of Owatonna, Chan (Lisa) Riskedahl of Maple Grove, MN, Jade (Ashley) Riskedahl of Hartland, Laura Riskedahl of Iowa City, IA, and Lynn (Brian) Gottleib of Charlestown, SC; eight great-grandchildren; sister Lillian Wyrum of Albert Lea; as well as his loving sisters-in-law; cousins; nieces, nephews; special friend Bea Slette, and other friends.

Neuman was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Tillie and his wife Dorothy in 1995.

What a grand fellow Neuman was. I am fortunate to have grown up in his neighborhood. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. To live in the hearts of those we leave behind is to never die.

My deepest sympathies at your loss. When I think of Neuman in church, all my memories have him wearing a big smile. I won't be able to make it to the visitation or funeral as I will be out of town but please know that you are still in my heart.

We are so sorry to hear about your Dad! We pray God will comfort you with the good memories -- one thing death can't away! I remember when my dad retired -- he went to work for your dad -- and enjoyed it tremendously! He always had great respect for your dad.
