Elmer Ludvig Erickson was born November 11, 1915, in Howard, SD, to Eddie Ucine and Louise Ilstad Erickson. His father was born in Illinois and his mother in Norway, and Elmer was one of nine children. He married Ethelyn May Wyrum October 14, 1938. The couple celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary last fall. Elmer loved his family and always enjoyed taking care of his farm animals. He enjoyed working with wood, making toys, home decorations, and gadgets. Elmer and Ethelyn resided in Alden before moving to Albert Lea in 1971. In July 2006, they moved to assisted living in Buffalo, MN, to be near family.
Survivors include daughter, Marie Anthony Sunlitis; son, Edward Barbara Erickson; granddaughters, Nancy Kalke, Charlene Thomas McDonnell, and Karen Russell Point; great-grandchildren: Karin and Philip Rossin, Jack and Andrew McDonnell, and Kandace, Joseph, and Erickson Point; sisters: Anna Arthur Anderson, Gladys Ray Rothstein, Juliet Zalk, and Lucille Gustav Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ethelyn in February 2006; brothers, Melvin J. Erickson and Arthur E. Erickson; and sisters, Gladys and Jeanette, who died at young ages.
Elmer was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. We will all miss him very missed.
