Arnold "Butch" Erdman, age 82, passed away June 3, 2025. A grave side service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, June 9 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Albert Lea. The Albert Lea American Legion and VFW will perform military honors. Refreshments will be served after the graveside service at 909 Luther Place in the 2nd floor dining area.
Arnold “Butch” Erdman Jr. was born July 15, 1942, in Delavan, MN to Arnold Sr. and Esther D. M. (Hawker) Erdman. He grew up in Albert Lea and attended Albert Lea High School. After his schooling, Butch joined the United States Navy and served for 20 years reaching the rank of Machinist Mate First Class. In 1963, he was united in marriage to Kimmy, and they had 3 children. The couple later divorced. In 1972 he married Margaret Seymour. She had two sons. After 55 years in Florida, Butch returned to Albert Lea where he lived until the time of his death.
Butch was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. In his free time, he enjoyed trips to Diamond Joe’s Casino, fishing, bowling, playing cards and going out to eat with his family.
Butch is survived by his sisters, Doris Hansen, Shirley Erdman, Jackie (Barry) Madson; brother, Dale Erdman; children, Michael (Nelda) Erdman, Teresa Adams, Tammy (Jerred) Jerdee, Allen (Shelly) Jerkins; daughter-in-law Teresa Jerkins; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; spouses, Kimmy and Margaret; son Edward Jerkins; Sister, Betty (Pete) Peterson; brother-in-law, Gerald Hansen; special friend Bev.
The family asks that no flowers be sent.
