Barbara Kay Hoyt, age 72, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, in Austin, Minnesota. Born on April 8, 1953, in Mason City, Iowa, Barbara brought joy and love to all who knew her throughout her life.
Barbara was the cherished daughter of Shirley and Howard Smith, who preceded her in death. She grew up surrounded by a close-knit family that included her siblings: Betty Price, Becky Ryerson, Bonnie Anderson, Brenda Johnson, and her late brother Ricky Smith. Her deep connection to family remained a cornerstone of her life.
Barbara was the proud mother of two sons: John Lidberg and the late Bobby Seha. She adored spending time with her family and treasured every moment she had with her grandchildren. Her home was often filled with laughter and warmth as she welcomed loved ones with open arms. Barbara’s love for her family was boundless; she made sure everyone knew how much they meant to her.
Known for her generous spirit and kind heart, Barbara was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. She had an uncanny ability to make people feel supported and loved. Her son John fondly recalls how she was his rock—always there to listen when he needed someone to talk to or vent his thoughts. Their bond was strengthened by small but meaningful rituals, like the nightly text messages she would send asking for a Campfire Cooler from Caribou Coffee—a request he often fulfilled with love.
Barbara’s joy extended beyond her family gatherings; she had a passion for classic cars and is now reunited with her beloved husband Larry Hoyt, cruising once again in timeless style.
Her passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those who loved her. Barbara’s memory will forever be cherished by her surviving son John Lidberg; her sisters Betty Price, Becky Ryerson, Bonnie Anderson, and Brenda Johnson; as well as countless other family members and friends whose lives she touched.
Barbara’s legacy is one of love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family. Though deeply missed, she will always remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
May Barbara Kay Hoyt rest in peace as she continues her journey surrounded by love and cherished memories.
Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
