Bryan D. Skogheim, 46, of Albert Lea passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, surrounded by his family after a courageous 18-month battle with cancer.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Saturday March 28, 2026, at Crossroads Evangelical Free Church in Albert Lea. A visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Friday, March 27,2026, at the church, along with an hour prior to the service.
Born in Albert Lea, MN on August 7, 1979, to David and Susan (Christenson) Skogheim, Bryan entered the world alongside his twin brother Brad. He remained a lifelong resident of Albert Lea and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1998 before attending RCTC. Over the years, Bryan was a dedicated employee at local businesses including Dave Syverson, Home Solutions and Larson Contracting before finding his home at Freeborn Mower Electric Cooperative as the Director of Business Development and Energy Solutions for over 11 years. Bryan invested deeply in the community by serving on numerous boards and committees, including Chamber Ambassador, Albert Lea Economic Development Agency as board member/President, Albert Lea Green Team, Riverland Community College Foundation and Albert Lea's Community Climate Action Planning Team.
Bryan was an avid outdoorsman and spent his free time snowmobiling, hunting ducks, geese, and pheasants, beekeeping and fishing. He was an extraordinary and accomplished angler; partnering with his closest friends in competitive tournaments, taking countless trips and logging endless hours on the water. Memorably in 2019, he guided Governor Tim Walz & Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan on Fountain Lake during the Minnesota Governor's Fishing Opener.
The greatest chapter of Bryan's life began in 2010 when he met Bethany. Bonding instantly, he embraced her daughters Madelynn and Jenna as his own and without hesitation became their 'bonus dad'. Whether it was a softball game, volleyball match, or graduation, Bryan could always be found in the front row providing intentional and unwavering support for their girls. Bryan and Bethany joined their lives and hearts in marriage on August 3, 2013, completing their family.
Bryan was a man whose greatness lay in the small, selfless acts he did for those he loved.
A devoted husband, father, and loyal friend, his impact was as vast as the countless stories he left behind. Though he is deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the hearts of everyone privileged enough to have known him.
Bryan is survived by his wife, Bethany Skogheim; daughters, Madelynn and Jenna Balfe; fur-babies, Louie and Andie; parents, Susan and Dave Skogheim; sister Wendy (Mike) Snyder; twin brother Brad (Julie) Skogheim; parents-in-law Pam and Paul Jerdee; brothers-in-law Jake (Tammy) Jerdee and Luke Jerdee; grandmother Annabel Christenson; nieces Meadow, Shyla, Abby, and Brynn.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ardella and Kenneth Skogheim and Clarence Christenson and by his cousins Adam Christenson, Gabrielle Knudtson, Kristen Knudtson, and Crystal Skogheim.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to Bryan's Oncology care team and St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate care throughout his journey.
