Burton Hartwick Thompson was born November 17, 1964; he passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 13, 2026. Burton was baptized and confirmed at Central Freeborn Lutheran Church. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1983 and went on to attend Mankato State University, graduating in 1987 with a degree in business. He was employed by U.S. Bank, working at their district office in St. Paul for 20 years. Burt was a Certified Public Accountant. His responsibility and accountability were his greatest strengths in his profession.

Burt loved hearing about the life experiences of his niece and nephews. He enjoyed the outdoors, sports, family reunions, music, television and old movies. He was always up to reminisce about memories and enjoyed a good laugh. Burt was a member at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Roseville, MN.

Those left to cherish Burton's memory include his parents, Roger G. and Mary Lee (Ehlert) Thompson; his brothers, Dean Thompson, Paul Thompson (Shannon); his niece, Ali Thompson Harbour (Grant); and nephews, Shane Thompson (Katie), Collin Thompson, Ryan Thompson; his aunts and uncles, Donald and Barb Thompson, Ruth Thompson, Charles and Pat Ehlert, Cecil Murra.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hartwick and Gladys Thompson, Oliver and Alice Ehlert; his aunt, Virgie Ann Murra; and uncle, Earl B. Thompson.

There will be a private service at a later date at Central Freeborn Lutheran Church Cemetery.

His family and friends will remember him fondly and carry his spirit forward.
