Jean Karau passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea. A celebration of life for Carol Jean Karau, 84, of Albert Lea will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday May 23, 2026, at the Grace Christian Church in Albert Lea, MN. The Rev. George Marin will officiate. Carol Jean Karau was born on February 13, 1942 in Rochester, MN to Donald and Ruth Mulholland. She graduated from John Marshall High School and went on to attend North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, MN. On May 19, 1962, she was united in marriage to Robert Karau. They were married for 54 years.

Jean was a member of Grace Christian Church. She spent over 30 years teaching Bible study. She enjoyed speaking at Woman’s Aglow, The Mission in Cresco, IA and volunteering at the KJLY prayer loft. She enjoyed playing her piano and listening to worship music along with sharing her Eagle presentation. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved connecting with her family and friends on Facebook and meeting up with them for coffee.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son Thomas Karau and his children Cassandra, Bobby and Sophie; her daughter Ramona (Steve) Haveraneck and their children Jacob and Zachary; and her daughter Angie (Jeff) Woodside along with their children Jill and Casey; her eight great-grandchildren; two sisters and one sister-in-law.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Ruth Mulholland; her husband Robert Karau; and her two sisters.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Hidden Creek, The St. Croix Hospice Nurses, and the nurses and care staff of the Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea.
