Craig Lestrud, age 63, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 PM on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the Albert Lea Eagles Club FOE 2258.
Craig James Lestrud was born on February 13, 1962, in Albert Lea, MN to Joyce Henderson. He grew up in south central Minnesota. On November 25, 1980, he joined the United States Army, where he served in the 10th Armored Division and was among the first soldiers to test the Abrams Main Battle Tank. He also served in Germany with the German 1st Armored Division. He was honorably discharged on November 25, 1986. On April 27, 2001, Craig was united in marriage to Trisha Walsh. The couple continued to live in Freeborn County until the time of his death.
In his free time, Craig enjoyed singing karaoke and riding his motorcycle with Trisha. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2258 and was an active member of the Glenville American Legion and Glenville Legion Riders Post 264. Above all, Craig loved his family and was a devoted husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, and uncle.
Craig is survived by his wife, Trisha; daughter, Candice (Kurt) Peterson; grandchildren, Abby and Emma Julsrud; mother, Joyce Henderson; stepfather, James Henderson; brother Lance (Jill) Louma; sister, Frances (Joey) Bowman.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Harvey (Clara) Lestrud and Jason Luoma.
In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the Glenville Legion Riders Post #264.
