Dean Clayton Peterson

Dean passed away on January 5, 2024 in Rochester, Minnesota. 

He was born in Albert Lea, Minnesota on December 2, 1961 to the late Deanna J. (Schmeling) Stevens and Clayton D. Peterson. 

Dean grew up in Hayward, MN, was active in 4-H and FFA, was a graduate of Albert Lea High School and attended Rochester Community College. He worked for 20+ years for the Mayo Clinic health system (Rochester, MN and Jacksonville, FL).  He was an accumulator of popular culture collectibles.  Dean was also a lover of cats and music (LPs and CDs), and had hundreds of movies (especially horror). He loved to read, had a strong penchant for jigsaw puzzles, had a creative, wonderful imagination and loved to laugh at simple things.  He was a Christian and believed in the power of prayer. The family is grateful to him being there for his parents in their time of need.

Dean is survived by his brother Mark (Luis) Peterson of Lantana, FL, sister Jill (Troy) Heeren of Hampton, NE, brother Jay Peterson of New Carlisle, OH; step father Robert Stevens of Jacksonville, FL, nephew, Joshua Kovac of Henderson, NC, nieces, Julia (Derek) Jones of Columbus, OH, Breanna, Samantha, and Sophia Heeren of NE; grandnieces, Scarlett, and Sable Kovac of NC; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father Clayton D. Peterson and mother Deanna J. Stevens.

A graveside service will be held at the Hayward Cemetery, Hayward, MN, Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 10:30 a.m.
