Denny passed away October 19, 2016, in Fort Worth, Texas, where he chose to live his final days with his two daughters and their families.
Denny was born March 21, 1947, to Enok and Harriet Nielsen. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1966 and carried many of those close friendships through his life. Denny served in the US Army from 1966-1968. He managed his family business, Nielsen's Service Station, for several years. He held various positions at other service stations and in retail. Denny loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed trips to the casino, live music, dancing, and listening to George Strait. He loved visiting his daughters in Texas, and his daily phone calls with his buddies.
Denny is survived by his sister, Jolene (Harry) LaCore; his two daughters, Jessikka (Dante) Parker and Candice (James) Stoner; grandchildren, Matthew Nielsen and Bailey Ward; great grandson, Barrett Nielsen; nieces and nephews.
Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Denny will be greatly missed by all.
Denny was such a joy to work with at ShopKo and then get a hug from all the years since. He did not forget any of us and we remember him with a smile.

I was so sorry to read of Denny's passing. A close friend in high school, we spent countless hours at his family's gas station on Bridge Street, just hanging out and watching the world go by. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to talk to him a little bit at our 40th high school reunion. It brought back many great memories. Denny will surely be missed. Please accept my sincerest condolences.
