Dennis Richter, 80, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at his home in rural Alden, MN. A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday September 25, 2025 at the Concordia Lutheran Church at Pickerel Lake. A visitation will be held the night prior from 5-7pm at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home in Albert Lea, MN, along with an hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Kristi Mitchell will be officiating.
Dennis was born on June 24, 1945 to Arthur and Alma Richter in Albert Lea, MN. Growing up in Mansfield, he attended school at Alden. After leaving high school, he started farming, and was known for his love of tractors and his ability to fix anything. Dennis loved horses, and would be a frequent sight at any local horse show or fair. He was a member of the Sunset Saddle Club and Southern Time Riders.
Dennis enjoyed being in his work shop fixing whatever was broken. Farmers from all over would bring their broken items to him to fix if they couldn’t do it themselves. He had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed going to Melyssa and Albert’s for Sunday family dinners. But most of all, he enjoyed a cup of coffee while spending time with his family and friends.
Dennis is survived in death by his daughters Judy (Steve Schultz) Perez, Melanie (Jason) Jacobs, Melyssa (Albert) Morua; his son Larry Richter. Grandchildren Mercedes (Hunter) Dahl and Lexxi Perez, McCoy Jacobs, McQuade (Taige) Jacobs, Isaac Jacobs, Presley Morua, Justice (Cody) Hollund, Emery (Ezzy) Morua, Dakota (Kaitlin) Richter, and Carter Richter. Mother of his children Ramona Richter. Great-grandchildren Sawyer, and Charlie Dahl, Eve and McQuade jr. Jacobs, Zaden Osmundson and Lennyn Hollund, Ivy, Duke and Colt Richter. His siblings Jane (LaVerne) Friedman, Carolyn Vangen, and Gary (Stephanie) Richter. Along with many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, and his dog Harley.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Alma; his maternal and paternal grandparents; along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Finally, as Dennis would always say: “Piss on it”
