Donald "Dick" Carlsen

November 27, 1935 — July 13, 2005

Donald Richard Carlsen was born November 27, 1935, to Donald E. and Dolores Edwin Carlsen in Minneapolis. He grew up in Albert Lea and attended Albert Lea schools. On March 1, 1953, Dick was united in marriage to Elaine Edwardson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He was employed at Wilson & Co. in various capacities including floor worker, supervisor, foreman, and sales. Dick had also worked for other meat-related businesses, Gold Country and Carlsen Companies. He was a member of the Eagles, Elks, and First Baptist Church and had worked with the United Way. Dick loved playing golf and doing yard work as well as traveling. He enjoyed country music and especially spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Elaine of Albert Lea; daughter, Wendy Nelson of Albert Lea; son, Kim and his wife, Tammie Carlsen of Apple Valley; grandchildren: Jennifer Nelson, Jason Nelson, Wendy Carlsen, Anne Egeness, Chris Baldwin, and Dustin and his wife, Dana Baldwin; great-grandchildren: Jake Nelson, Nicholas Runden, Laura Runden, and Hailey Egeness; his mother, Dolores Carlsen of Albert Lea; sister, Kathy and her husband, Mike Parry of Waseca; brother, David Carlsen of Albert Lea; and several nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his father.
