Genevie Ione Lau

February 22, 1931 — May 26, 2019

Funeral services for Genevie I Lau, age 88 of Albert Lea, will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home.  Pastor Kent Otterman will officiate.  Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Glenville.  Friends may greet the family from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Online condolences are welcome at:  www.bayviewfuneral.com

Genevie died on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Center with her family by her side.

Genevie was born on Feb. 22, 1931 in Shellrock township the daughter of Emil and Ina (Westrum) Knaack.  She grew up and attended school in rural Glenville.  Genevie was united in marriage to Virgil Lau on Aug. 22, 1948 at First Lutheran Church, Glenville.  She was a homemaker all of her life enjoying baking, working with flowers and embroidering towels.  Her greatest enjoyment was spent with all of her family.  She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Glenville.

Genevie is survived by her children; Susan (Steve) Heideman and son Danny Lau.  Grandchildren;  Aaron (Emmy) Williamson and their children Mason, Ava, Tucker and Jadelyn, Lindy (Adam) Fredrickson and children, Max and Abby, Blake (Malory Mattson) Heideman, Marty Lau, Jenny (Paul) Berg and children Ariel and Angelique and Kris (Jenny) Lau and children, Demi, Vance and Gage.  Sisters; Janice (Jim) Lembke and Bonnie (Ronnie) Rasmusson.  Sisters-in-law Phyllis Lau and Lois Lau and Brother-in-law Carol Hanson.

Genevie was preceded in death by her parents, and in-laws, husband Virgil, son David, Brother Richard Knaack, sister Kathryn Hanson.  Brothers-in-law, Aldon Holstad, Archie Lau, Willis Lau and Jim Hulshizer.  Sisters-in-law Arlene Knaack and Madeline Hulshizer.  Also several aunts, uncles and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Good Samaritan Society for taking such good care of Gen over the last few years.
