George W. Jensen, age 76, of Albert Lea, passed away on March 10, 2022 at Mayo Clinic – Austin Campus. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 11 am at First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea, MN. Pastor Joy Knoppel will officiate. Burial will be at Lime Creek Cemetery, Emmons, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
George Walter Jensen was born August 5, 1945 to Vera and Leo Jensen of Albert Lea. He attended the Albert Lea School district. Working various jobs, he ended up retiring from Freeborn Foods/ConAgra after 40 years to partake in miscellaneous projects that he enjoyed doing or working on.
On February 10, 1968 George was united in marriage to Arlys LaVonne Ofstedal. To this marriage, four children were born, Kristie, Scott, Verlon and Arlisha.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, and was active in various tractor clubs, but most of all, George enjoyed spending time with his family.
George is survived by daughter, Kristie Erlandson of Alden, MN, her children, Cassie (Pat) O’Connor of Elkton, MN, Alex Erlandson of Glenville, MN and Nicholas Erlandson (Special friend of Emma) of Glenville, MN; son, Scott (Sherry) Jensen of Silver Springs, Florida and their children, Jeremiah Jensen of MN, Jacob Hanson (Special friend of Claudia) of Arizona, and Nathan Jensen of Albert Lea; son, Verlon (Marcia) Jensen of Albert Lea, and their children, Tyler (Jamie) Jensen of MN, Brittany (Jordan) Schilling of London, MN, Brody Jensen (Special friend), Kenzie Potz of Albert Lea and Taylor Jensen of Albert Lea; and daughter Arlisha Jensen of Glenville, MN and her daughter Ashtyn Jensen of Glenville, MN.
Brother Thomas (Kris) Jensen of Eagan, MN; brother Reid (Jenifer) Jensen of Arizona; and sister Gayle Brandt of MN.
Great grandchildren, Zachariah, Kaidyn, Jace, Emmerson, and Mikaela O’Connor; Madison and Raelyn Jensen; Lucy and Eliana Erlandson; Haydyn Schilling; Summer Hanson; and Brantley Potz Jensen; along with several nieces and nephews.
George is preceded in death by his wife Arlys in April 2020, parents Vera and Leo, great grandson Michah O’Connor and son-in-law Mike Erlandson.
