Gloria Ann Hall, age 82, passed away Tuesday, July 30. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 6 at First Lutheran Church in Glenville. Pastor Kent Otterman will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
Gloria Hall was born on April 5, 1942, in Albert Lea, MN to George and Mae (Burns) Thofson. She grew up in Gordonsville and attended Glenville High School and graduated in 1960. After graduating, she worked as a bank teller. On August 20, 1961, she was united in marriage to Roger Hall. From this union three children were born. Gloria worked on the family dairy farm until the mid 1980’s and then continued with beef cattle. During that time, Gloria was a school bus driver for thirty-four years. She also worked as a custodian at the courthouse where she was a valuable and well respected member of the staff. After retirement, she continued to help her sons on the farm any way she could.
Gloria was a member of First Lutheran Church in Glenville. She served many years as the church president. She was very patriotic and travelled on many Honor Flights with veterans. She often reminded her children how lucky they were to live in America. Gloria enjoyed cooking, and baking for others and enjoyed helping people any way she could. Gloria’s greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gloria is survived by her sons Roger “Chip” (Dawn) Hall, and Ranger (Michelle) Hall; and son-in-law Tracy Haines. Grandchildren Erica (Derek) Bendickson, Andrea Hall, Alayna (Tyler) Underdahl, Landon (Samantha) Hall, Marshal (Kate) Hall, Joey Haines, Jennaca (Dillon) Madson, Justice “Hoss” Haines (Amy Leach), and Jesse Haines. Great-Grandchildren Jared Hall, Liam Bendickson, Connor Bendickson, Ethan Bendickson, Faith Thorson, Navaeh Thorson, Jaxon Thorson, Jameson Thorson, Evelyn Underdahl, Sloan Underdahl, Oliver Hall, Baker Hall, Tatum Hall, Parker Hall, Gibson Madson, and Robby Madson. Sister-in-law Cindy Thofson; brothers Steve (Dawn) Thofson, Mitchell (Barb) Thofson and sister Marlene Overton.
Gloria is preceded in death by her late ex-husband Roger Hall and her significate other David Lau, father and mother George and Mae Thofson; brother Butch Thofson; sister Viola Braun; daughter Robin Haines; and grandson John Paul Haines.
