Gregory Jerome Vick, 71 passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Society Comfort Care Center in Austin, MN surrounded by his loved ones. A funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, November 7, 2025 at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home in Albert Lea, MN. A visitation will be held from 10 to noon prior to the service. Burial will be held at Lakewood Cemetery.
Gregory was born on May 4, 1954 in Austin, MN to Nels and Mildred Vick. After graduating from Austin High School in 1972, Greg attended vocational technical school, obtaining his degree as an Autobody Technician.
On May 11, 1974, Gregory was united in marriage to Debra Ann Hardy in Austin, MN. To this union, four children were born. Greg and Debra made their home in Albert Lea, MN where they raised their family. Greg worked at Dave Syverson Ford for many years as an autobody technician and later as the body shop manager. Greg took great pride in his work and was considered by many to be the best painter in the five-state area.
When Greg wasn’t working, what was most important to him was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. The little special moments were the most precious to him. Greg also enjoyed watching westerns, along with World War II documentaries, as his father Nels has served in World War II. Greg’s other interests included working on classic cars, going to car shows-especially “Back to the 50’s” and stock car races.
Greg was a very kindhearted, easy-going man. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and friends alike. Greg was well liked and will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially by his family.
Greg is survived by his wife Debra of 51 years; children Cari Vick-O’Connell (Sean O’Connell), Elissa Vick (Todd Forrester), and Nathaniel (Connie Sue) Vick. Grandchildren Sabrienne and Tavia O’Connell, Jager Lillibridge (fiancée Hannah Bavier). Father-in-law Robert Hardy; sisters Marsha (Gary) Pike, Cynthia (Loren) Allas. Brothers-in-law James Hardy (Marlene Anderson), Gregory Hardy, Bradley Hardy (Lisa Lewison), Eric Hardy (Sheila Rodgers); along with many nieces and nephews, and his special cat Ebbie Lu.
Greg is preceded in death by his daughter Heather Nicole Vick in infancy; parents Nels and Mildred Vick; his grandparents; mother-in-law Darlene Hardy; sister-in-law Brenda Hardy; along with many uncles, aunts and cousins.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those that cared for Greg at the Good Samaritan Comfort Care, and Mayo Clinic Hospice in Austin, MN. A special “Thank You” to neighbors Scott and Tammy Stolaas and Jamie and Holly Cantu for all the help and support over the years.
