Harold Leonard Brandt passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Harold was born August 11, 1935 in Albert Lea, Minnesota to Arnold and Edna (Leschefski) Brandt.

For many years he was the baby of the family and was affectionately known as Babe. Babe met and married the LOVE OF HIS LIFE Lois Wahlers on March 25, 1956. They had an unending love that will bring them together in heaven. The lovebirds happily created a family by having six children. Babe so loved his children he chose to work 3 jobs so that they could be raised by their mom. He worked at Wilson’s Foods, Ray’s junkyard and was a much-loved school bus driver.  Harold was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church where he was an usher for many years, he later became a member at Ascension Lutheran Church.

Harold is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Lois. His children, Terry Brandt, Tim (Sharon) Brandt, Susan Quarnstrom, Larry Brandt and Jim (Teresa) Brandt; grandchildren, Becky, Daniel, Isaac, Eric (Megan), Julie (Ben) Nordquist, Joe (Jess) Quarnstrom, Dagan (Ruthie) and Alex; great grandchildren, Nick and Hannah Brandt, Austin and Aiden Quarnstrom, Dexter and Maxwell Brandt, and baby in tummy (Nordquist) due in August; sisters Colleen Brang and Kathy Porter; sisters-in-law, Iris Bighley, Melba Jenkins, and Arcley Wahlers.  Also, many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. Babe loved them all!

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Brandt Nesset; grandsons Aaron Brandt (son of Terry), Cory Brandt (son of Tim) and Michael Brandt (son of Jim); great grandson, Jacob Brandt (son of Eric); parents, Arnold (Edna) Brandt; siblings, Mavis (Johnny) Johnson, Donald (Marilyn) Brandt; in-laws, Arthur and Molly Wahlers, siblings-in-law, Cecil and Lucille Wahlers, Wayne Wahlers, Doris and Tony Belshan, John Jenkins and Marsh Bighley.

Memorials are preferred to The Parkinson’s Foundation or The Food Shelf.

Babe wasn’t a suit wearing kind of guy so please feel free to dress casual at the service.

Tim and the Brandt family, I am sure Harold was a wonderful Father, Grandfather and friend as I know Tim and he is a wonderful person. I am sure he picked up lots of his great qualities from his parents. I never knew Harold but enjoy his successes, talk to his memorable moments (and not so memorable) and relive his legacy. He is in a better place now and at peace. God Bless to Harold and the whole Brandt family. Celebrate his life and have a good time

Hi Tim and family,

It is really tough when you lose your Dad. My Dad suffered from Parkinson's as well and finally lost his battle with that terrible disease, as you know. I am sure you Dad is in a better place now and can at last rest. He is not fighting Parkinson's anymore.

I am sorry I never got to meet your Dad, he sounds like just the kind of guy that everyone would want to meet and spend time with.

Our prayers go out to you and your family.

Truly one of the most amazing men I have ever met. He was kind and gentle and always kept an innocence about him that drew people to him. Children loved him because he himself kept a childlike quality and could find wonder in the simplest things. The love he had for his wife and family was endless and boundless. He was a gentleman, and a gentle man. You will be dearly missed. Kim, Walt, Rick, Amanda Land, and Caden and Alex Carlson
