Helen Catherine Brandt

Helen Catherine Brandt, age 98, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, at the Hayward Lutheran Church at 11AM with visitation to be held for an hour prior. Burial will be held at Hayward Cemetery following the service. Reverend Josh Enderson will be officiating.

Helen was born on April 3, 1928, in Byron Township to William and Deborah (Underwood) Krowiorz. She grew up in the Wells area and attended school there until she finished the 8th grade. On June 18, 1943, she married Helmer Brandt in Albert Lea and from their union came five beautiful children.

Helen was a hard working and caring woman. She helped around the farm, doing whatever needed to be done to keep everything on track. She often volunteered to take care of sick family members or babysit for them. She loved family gatherings, often cooking incredible meals for everyone to enjoy.

When she wasn’t taking care of her family, Helen kept herself busy with gardening, playing guitar, singing, playing cards, doing word searches, and playing bingo at the senior center. She also enjoyed watching TV, particularly RFD and her soapies, as well as bowling.

Helen is survived by her sons Dennis (Janice) Brandt, Ronnie Brandt, and Jerry Brandt; daughter Ruth Ann (Gene) Flaskerud; and many grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Helmer; parents William and Deborah Krowiorz; son Harold; brothers Clifford, Lester, and Daniel; sisters Pauline and Marion; and her daughter-in-law Delcie Brandt.
