Howard Peterson

Howard Stanley Peterson of Albert Lea, 89, went home to his heavenly father on April 25, 2025. No services are planned.

Howard was born at his parents’ farm in Albert Lea on September 24th, 1935, to his parents Johanna and Henry, and his older sister Betty.

After graduating high school, he served two years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. He then returned home to continue farming.

Howard married Solveig Sorensen on November 1, 1958. In 1964 they moved with their three sons to Eugene, Oregon, to start anew. Their fourth son was born the following year.

For 25 years he worked at a local company that provided services and materials to contractors and homeowners. During this time, his wife passed away, leaving him to raise their sons.

After the boys were out on their own, he moved to the Seattle area in 1988, where he took up home remodeling as a trade.

In 2014 he moved back to Albert Lea and married Lois Morreim.

Howard loved golf, fishing, playing cards and helping people. He spent many hours attending ball games, school functions and special occasions with and for his sons. He served at the churches he attended and as a scoutmaster when his sons were part of the local troop. He especially loved spending time with all of his “favorite” grandchildren and their families.

Howard was a firm believer in the salvation of his savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He was baptized in the Lutheran church as an infant, and he had a believer’s baptism later in life. It was important to him that others, especially his family, know the Good News of Jesus.

Howard is survived by his wife Lois, sons Jonathon, Steven and Daniel (Pam),  daughter-in-law- AnnElise, grandchildren Laura (Nate) Rheaume, Marcy (Nathan) Holzrichter, Ryan Peterson, Kyle (Melissa) Peterson, and Erin Baker, 11 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Johanna, sister Betty, wife Solveig, son Michael, and niece Joanne.
