Janiece Gail Quam

Memorial services for Janiece G. Quam, age 80, of Albert Lea, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home.  Chaplain Todd Walsh will officiate. A private burial will take place at a later date.  Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

Janiece died Friday, December 28, 2018 at Thorne Crest Senior Living Community.

Janiece Gail Quam was born on July 27, 1938 in Northwood, Iowa, the daughter of Vale and Bernice (Juhl) Low.  She grew up and attended school in Emmons, Minnesota.  On July 10, 1955, Janiece was united in marriage to C. Paul Quam at Silver Lake Lutheran Church.  She retired from Thorne Crest as a nursing assistant.  Janiece was a member of Central Freeborn Lutheran Church.  She was also a member of the Elks and the Eagles.

Janiece loved being a mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, and auntie.  She was the matriarch of the family and taught all of them how to live and love. Janiece always put others before herself.  She loved her family to the fullest.  She never missed an event that involved her kids or grandkids. Janiece loved to bake for her family.  Molasses krinkles and lefse were her specialties.  She spent many Friday and Saturday nights dancing and playing cards.  She also never missed cheering on the Twins and Vikings.  She was always busy and the only time she sat down was to watch her stories.  Janiece had the best sense of humor and had a saying for everything.  She will be remembered for her kindness and spunk for life.  Her love for her family was so great and witnessed by all.

Janiece is survived by her children, Jeff (Charlotte Haukoos) Quam, Scott (Carol) Quam, Steve (Karen) Quam, Lori (Jeff) Miller, Jon Quam, Craig (Kim) Quam; grandchildren, Chad (Rochelle) Quam, Gretchen (Matt) Wangen, Wade Quam, Jenna Miller, Jesse (Sophie Miller) Quam, Sarah (Josh Adams) Quam, Devan (Lucas) Kreuscher, Erin (Brandon) Brackey, Kate (Cory Camerer) Quam, Sam Quam, and Sedona Quam; many great-grandchildren; sisters, Sandy (Joe) Becker and Cindy (Dave) Mucha; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Quam, Ginny Light, and Mary Overson.

Janiece was preceded in death by her husband, C. Paul Quam; parents, Vale and Bernice Low; parents-in-law, Orin and Carmen Quam; granddaughter, Amy Beth Quam; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Sympathy to the family. Just heard, so missed her funeral. Worked with her at Lerberg Foods in Ellendale. She was a lot of fun to be around.
