Jeanette "Jay" Arlene Godtland

Memorial Service for Jeanette Godtland will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church, 918 Garfield Ave, Albert Lea, MN. Rev. Shane Koepke will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Friday (9/20) at Bayview Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to the service at church on Saturday. Jeanette “Jay” Godtland, age 95 of Albert Lea, passed away on September 15, 2019 at her home.

Jeanette was born on May 30, 1924 to Harvey and Agnes (Jensen) Heegard. She graduated from Albert Lea High School and spent her life raising two daughters in Albert Lea. She proudly served in the United States Navy. She loved to bowl; she also loved to watch golf and the Minnesota Twins. Jay was an avid reader, especially romance novels. When she wasn’t reading or watching tv, she was doing her crossword puzzles. She was known for always speaking her mind!

She is survived by her daughter Linda Hanna (Special friend Patrick Schultz); granddaughter Courtney Hanna; sister Lois (Roger) Bailey; Brother-in-law Howard Petersen; Sisters-in-law Lois Undahl, Sandy Godtland; Brothers-in-law LuVerne Godtland and Ronald (Karen) Godtland; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jay was preceded in death by her husband Ellsworth; daughter Marcie; brothers and sisters-in-law LuVerne (Mona) Heegard, Darrell “Buck” (Shirley) Heegard; sisters Delores Petersen and Marilyn Amerson; sister-in-law Georgia (Arnold) Johnson; brothers-in-law Glen (Eleanor) Godtland, Donald (Dorothy) Godtland, Arthur Jr (Olive) Godtland, Richard Godtland, Raymond Godtland, DeVerne Undahl; sisters-in-law Ruth (Dale) Whiteis, Arlene Godtland and Jeannie Godtland.
