Jim was born on February 13, 1934 in Albert Lea, MN. Jim grew up in a home next to St. Theodore Cemetery, and attended St. Theodore Catholic School and Albert Lea High School. After graduation he entered Barber School in St. Paul, MN. Shortly after returning to Albert Lea, he opened Jim‘s Barbershop. It was a place to get a haircut, hear the latest news and find out where the fish were biting. Jim loved the outdoors and serving his community. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, weekends at the cabin and road trips with the RV. Jim was an active member of Pheasants Forever and served on the committee for Ducks Unlimited for many years. He also enjoyed raising money for Albert Lea‘s annual Fourth of July celebration.
He married JoAnn J. Jenson on August 4, 1956, at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea, MN. They enjoyed an impressive 68 years of marriage, bringing up one daughter Lynn and becoming a special Grandpa to Danielle. Jim lived each day, filled with an appreciation for life, and a strong devotion to God and family. When we would say, “God bless you Dad.” he would always reply, “He has.”
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Kazmier and Elsie Malepsy, brother Joseph C. Hughes, sister Virginia Wynkoop-Pagliaccio, brother Stanley K. Malepsy, sister Helen M. Cornick, brother Thomas E. Malepsy, brother Robert K. Malepsy, brother William F. Malepsy.
