John E. Herman

John E. Herman, 61, of Albert Lea, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, at Bayview Funeral Home in Albert Lea. The funeral service and fellowship gathering will follow at 2:00 P.M. Pastor Mary Iverson will be officiating. A burial service at Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea will immediately follow the funeral and fellowship gathering at Bayview.

John was born in Mason City, Iowa, on January 14th, 1964. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1983 and continued his education at Albert Lea Vocational and Technical College earning welding and overhead welding certifications.

John and his former wife, Elizabeth Lozano Godina, married in 1990 and were blessed with two children: Janet and Taysha.

John’s work ethic was second to none! He worked as a lead lineman at Schweigert in Albert Lea for 18+ years. He was very proud to have served as a union representative while there. John had an immense love of music and playing pool (billiards). He was a skilled acoustic and electric guitar player. During his high school years, he was a drummer in a local band.

John is survived by his brothers Ted (and Laurie) Herman and Jay Wessels, each from Albert Lea, his daughters Janet Herman from Albert Lea and Taysha (and Joseph) Rossow from Champlin, his grandchildren Josiah and Allexah Herman and Nolan Orion Rossow, his nephew Zach (and Kelli) Herman from Belle Plaine, his niece Jessica (and Matt) Gerhan from Richfield, his great-nieces Brexli and Lucille Herman and Charlee Gerhan, his great-nephew Theo Gerhan, his uncle Billy and aunt Norma Foster from Chaska, and cousins Ed (Danette and Mason) Foster and Cara (Jarrett, Anika, and Conner) Bowen from Carver.

He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Helen Foster, mother, Janet Warner, and stepfather, George Warner.

Memorial donations may be sent in John’s name to Prairie Senior Cottages Hospice or the Pediatric Epilepsy Research Foundation (checks may be mailed to this address: 8390 Lyndon B. Johnson Fwy; Ste 350 Box 19 Dallas, TX 75243).
