Kathy died unexpectedly Thursday, April 7, 2016 in Blooming Prairie.

Kathleen (Kathy) Broberg was born May 12, 1949 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Minneapolis, the daughter of Marcel and Patricia (Ringer) Dittrich.  She attended Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School through 8th grade in Mound and graduated high school from St. Margaret’s Academy in Minneapolis. Kathy became a dental assistant in Wayzata.  She married Thomas Broberg on October 16, 1971 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mound.  Kathy was an organist at St. Victoria Catholic Church.  In 1989, the family moved to Albert Lea where Kathy became an organist at St. Theodore Catholic Church.  She also participated in the handbell and church choirs.  Due to her interest in history and genealogy, Kathy visited Salt Lake City, Utah for research. She volunteered at the Carver County Historical Society.  She was a collector of Precious Moments figurines and liked visiting the Precious Moments Chapel in Missouri.  She enjoyed watching the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps, figure skating, and going to the casino.

Kathy is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (Lee) Meili of Lakeville, MN and Megan (Nate Hubert) Broberg of Ramsey, MN; brother, Ritchie (Jarie) Dittrich of Minneapolis; sister, Mary (Brad) Footh of Lenexa, KS; brothers-in-law, James (Marlys) Broberg of Albert Lea and Philip (Jean) Broberg of Shoreview, MN; special friend, Lawrence Goodnature of Blooming Prairie; and nieces and nephews.

Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; parents; and brother, Mike Dittrich.

To Richie, Mary and relatives:

My deepest sympathy for the loss of Kathy.  I talked to her for at least an hour after her brother Mike's passing and so glad I had that time with her.  I just read  her obituary in the Victoria paper this week and was so sorry I didn't know in time for the funeral.  Kathy was a neighbor and close friend. We went to school from K through 10th grade together. We shared lots of great times and have kept in touch through the years.  She used her musical talents for the glory of God and was so genuine and thoughtful.
If Mary or Richie would contact me I would love to hear from you.

My deepest sympathies for your loss.  She was like an aunt and so caring for my uncle Lawrence. I really appreciated her being around and loved her big smile that was always there.  She will always be remembered, thank you for sharing her with our family.  With sympathy, Angie Goodnature

Dear Jennifer and family, I was a friend of Kathy's. She used to come into the dairy queen all the time and order the chicken strip kids meal. We would talk and she would tell me about her day and I would tell her about mine. I will miss her smile and voice while never forgetting her order. I will miss you Kathy.
