Leslie James Christensen, 94, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at the Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Hartland, MN. A visitation will be held from 9-11am on September 26, 2024 at the church. Pastor Marcia Pedersen will be officiating.
Leslie James Christensen was born in Albert Lea, MN on July 13, 1930 to Victor and Beverly (Longshore) Christensen. He grew up in Freeborn, MN and graduated from Freeborn High School. After his schooling, Leslie joined the Army Airforce in 1948 and served until 1949. He was united in marriage to Yvonne Amley on December 31, 1950. Leslie farmed with his brother and on his own in the area. He also owned his own road construction business (Christensen Road Equipment), where he hauled rock and gravel, bladed roads and plowed snow. He also served on the Freeborn-Mower Electric Board.
Leslie enjoyed traveling to various countries around the world, including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, England, China, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Norway and Denmark. He also travelled with his family, taking trips to Las Vegas with his daughters and taking all of his grandchildren to Disney World in Florida. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening and flying his plane. His greatest love was spending time with his family.
Leslie is survived by his daughters, Cynthia (John) Miller of Elysian, MN, BethAnn (Jerry) Kroeger of Freeborn, MN, Lesley (Craig) Wenzel of New Richland, MN; 6 grandchildren, Brandon (Angela) Kroeger of New Richland, Tiffany (Joel) Kriesel of Owatonna, Jennifer (Kelly) Anderson of Hager City, Wi, and Kara (Matt) Wilkenson of New Richland, Lynsey (Tim) Lindholm of Ham Lake, and Kyle (Laura) Wenzel of New Richland; 12 great-grandchildren; brother Dale (Judy) Christensen; sister-in-law, Jeanne Amley, along with several nieces and nephews.
Leslie is preceded by his wife Yvonne, parents Victor and Beverly Christensen, his two sisters Beverly Jean (infancy) and Jeanne Matthies; twin brother Lloyd Christensen; and his grandparents Peter and Annie Christensen, and Earl and Mary Longshore.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the Freeborn Cemetery, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
