Lloyd P. Yoder, 72, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026, at the Parkview Care Center in Wells, MN. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Chapel in Albert Lea.

Lloyd was born on July 28, 1953, in San Diego, California and was adopted by Lloyd and Betty (Shaffer) Yoder. He grew up in the San Diego area, along with his siblings. He dropped out of high school and began working as a fry cook and then as a landscaper before becoming an electrician. He later became an electrical contractor and owned his own business. On May 14, 1999, he married Maerene Essary and joined their families into one.

Lloyd was a man of strong conviction and passion. He had tremendous faith in God and always said that he received “nudges” to keep him on the right path. He loved Maerene deeply, wanting nothing more than to be home with her until his final days. They knew they were right for each other since their first date, a motorcycle ride into Mexico, when the freezing wind was strong enough to blow them into the oncoming lane, and they had to completely trust each other, and trust each other they did. All the way until the end.

When he wasn’t home with Maerene, Lloyd enjoyed many hobbies and pastimes. He enjoyed spending time outdoors; fishing and camping, both with and without family, and would take a week off to go camping on his own for his birthday every year. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, often going with family with little more than a “What’s holding you here?” to get them going. He never got lost; he found “new areas to explore.” Lloyd was also a deeply patriotic man who loved his country. He had a special appreciation for eagles, which reflected that patriotism, and he also had a soft spot for flowers.

Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.

He is survived by his wife Maerene, 4 sons, 5 daughters, 17 grandchildren, and 2 sisters.
