Lorraine Adeline (Grasdalen) Hanson

Lorraine Adeline (Grasdalen) Hanson passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at the First Lutheran Church of Albert Lea at 11AM with visitation to be held for an hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at Central Freeborn Lutheran Cemetery following the service. Pastor Don Malinsky will be officiating. There will also be a Celebration of Life at Joy Lutheran Church in Prescott, WI on Friday, May 30, 2025 from 3 PM until 5:30 PM.

Lorraine (Grasdalen) Hanson was born on May 11, 1927 to Lars and Alpha (Iverson) Grasdalen in Albert Lea, MN. She attended school in Albert Lea and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1945. She began work as an operator for NW Bell Telephone Co. in Albert Lea. On May 25, 1947, she married LeRoy Hanson at First Lutheran Church and together they lived on a farm outside Albert Lea. LeRoy worked on the farm with his father Paul, while Lorraine worked as a farm wife and raised chickens. In 1960 they moved to Prescott Wisconsin, where they lived until LeRoy retired in 1988. They wintered in Texas for 12 years before returning to Albert Lea. When LeRoy passed in 2011, they had enjoyed 64 years of married life together.

Lorraine was an active member of her church. She was Baptized at Central Freeborn Lutheran Church and confirmed at First Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School and was a member of the church women’s circle, as well as being a charter member of Joy Lutheran Church.

Lorraine was a woman of many hobbies. She enjoyed travelling, ballroom dancing, stain glass painting, oil painting, playing cards, and gardening. She was a wonderful cook and had made many lifelong friends during her days in Albert Lea and Prescott. For 27 years, she proudly served as an Elections worker for the City of Prescott. Her true vocation and calling in life was being a great mother and wife.

She is survived by her son Steven, daughter Brenda Kittilson, and sons David (Su), Michael (Diane), Mark and Greg (Lisa). She is also survived by her sister Marilyn Lewison, 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband LeRoy Hanson, her parents Lars and Alpha Grasdalen, her sister Betty Ruud and her brother Lowell Grasdalen.
