Lynda Baseman

Heaven gained a beautiful soul. Lynda Kay (Morreim) Baseman passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026 surrounded by loved ones. A wake will be held from 4-7pm on Friday, September 11, 2026 at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home in Albert Lea, MN. A private burial ceremony will be held at a later date.

Lynda was born on November 6, 1947 in Albert Lea, MN; the daughter of Kenneth Morreim and Yvonne (Balbach) Morreim. She grew up in Albert Lea, MN and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1966. On August 16, 1968 she was united in marriage to Duaine Baseman. The couple made their home outside of Albert Lea. Together they had two children. Through life she worked at JC Penny’s, Boyd & Jacks Supermarket, Fountain Industries and finally retired from Hormel Foods.

Lynda in the early years with Duaine enjoyed the quiet moments driving through the county side, spending the weekends visiting family and friends, and special family time with their children taking them camping, fishing and small vacations to popular attractions. Lynda later found joy in riding her bicycle, walking with her daughter, spending the summer months camping at Leech Lake with her siblings where she found the peacefulness of kayaking. She loved being apart of anything involving her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed her annual sisters’ weekend. She also took numerous trips with family which included traveling to Greece, New York City, Washington DC, Branson, MO and so many more places. All of her favorite moments were shared with family.

Lynda tackled life challenges with her profound belief in God and prayers. She knew her latest journey and made the courageous choice to stop resisting God’s call and surrender to His will. She trusted in His promise of eternal life and found peace in knowing that He was calling her home.

Lynda was preceded in death by her husband Duaine, brother Kenneth and grandchildren Ciarra and DJ along with several other loved ones who were called home before her.

Lynda is survived by her children Michael (Michelle) Baseman and Renee King (Kirk Siemer). Grand children Casey (Heather) King, Zackary (Alicia) Schumaker and Marcus King. Great grand children Eleanor and Hunter King, Brekken, Aviana, Zeniana and Lola Schumaker. One brother and three sisters; Michael (Cheryl) Morreim, Rebecca (Dennis) Boone, Theresa (Loren) Kaiser and Norma (Jay) Corbin; several brother and sister in laws Rodger (Barb) Baseman, Lyle (Faye) Baseman, Germaine Houchin, Caroleen Edgar, LeRoy (Alane) Baseman, Daryll (Marlene) Baseman and many nieces and nephews.

The memory of Lynda’s strong beliefs, fierce loyalty, and kind heart will remain with all who knew and loved her.
