Mary Matheny-Schwartz

Mary Matheny-Schwartz passed away September 4, 2025. A visitation will be held from 3-4pm on Thursday, September 11, and the funeral service will be held immediately afterwards at 4pm at the Bridge Community Church in Albert Lea, MN.

Mary Matheny-Schwartz was born on July 19, 1962 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Lyle and Deanna (Kunce) Matheny. She grew up in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids.

Mary enjoyed interior decorating, flower gardening, bird watching and taking care of her pets. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping, cooking for others and motorcycle ministry. Her greatest love was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, William Schwartz; children, Joshua (Kelly) McGaffey, Jackie Thomas, Bill Schwartz Jr., Steve (Rachel) Schwartz, Melissa McGaffey; grandkids, Robert, Isaiah, Gabrielle, Noah, Timothy, Evan and Olivia; Mother Deanna Matheny; brothers, Gary Matheny, LT Matheny and Ed Matheny; sister, Diana Casey; dear friend, Dawn Hanson.

Mary is preceded in death by her father, Lyle Matheny; brother Kenny Matheny.
