Mildred Milly Larson

November 19, 1915 — July 15, 2017

Funeral services for Mildred (Milly) Larson age 101 of Albert Lea, MN., will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., from Trinity Lutheran Church.  Pastor Eileen Woyen will officiate.  Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Glenville.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 – 5:00 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.  Online condolences are welcome at:  www.bayviewfuneral.com

Milly died on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at her home at Oak Park Place.

Mildred Larson was born on November 19, 1915 near Myrtle, MN., the daughter of August and Emma (Zarling) Mittag.  She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and sang in the church choir. She attended District 59 school thru the 8th grade. Milly was united in marriage to Milford Larson on June 26, 1938 at the church parsonage by Rev. O.C. Staehling.  This marriage was blessed with two daughters, Sharon and Barbara.  The Larsons lived on a farm near Hayward, MN., for 6 years then moved to Albert Lea where the family resided.  Milly was a homemaker and worked as a part-time clerk at the down town J.C. Penny Store for over 10 years. 

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church as well as an associate charter member of Sonland Lutheran Church in Casa Grande, AZ where the couple spent many winters in later years.  While at Trinity, she was a former Altar Guild member, Bible Study group, charter member of Sunbeam Circle and latter years, joined the church sewing group.  Milly loved being a home-maker, cooking, serving her meals, crocheting and crafts of all kinds.  She also enjoyed traveling with her husband spending winters in AZ, Texas and Florida.  Milly also served as an active member of the American Cancer Society for several years.  She dearly loved her family and was always concerned about them.

Survivors include her daughters: Sharon (Frank) Holway and Barb (Allen) Moe.  3 grandchildren; Brad Holway, Sherri (Manuel) Mestas and Erik (Brenda) Moe.  5 great-grandchildren:  Ben and Emily Holway, Sarah and Julianna Mestas and Alanna Moe.

Milly was preceded in death by her parents, husband Milford, brothers; Harland and Donald Mittag and sisters, Arlene Schilling and Mable Larson.  Sisters-in-law:  Mae Mittag, Hazel Larson, Ruth Korsmo and Nellie Larson.  Brothers-in-law, Roy Schilling, Milton Larson, Marion Larson, James Larson and Clarence Korsmo.  Great-granddaughter, Samantha Mestas.
