Nora Cheryl Nelson died July 21, 2026 at her home. A memorial service will be held at 2PM on August 15, 2026 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 1963 S. Broadway, Albert Lea. Visitation shall be held for an hour prior to the service. Elder Timothy Hellie will officiate.
Nora was born on June 29, 1952 to Robert E. and Ardith (Hillman) Nelson at Naeve hospital in Albert Lea. Growing up on the family farm, Bob and Ardith brought up their children to have a strong work ethic. She graduated from Glenville in 1970.
Nora had a love of farming and dairy, which she kept throughout her life, choosing to work in dairy and farming as her occupation. Going on family trips brought her many happy memories.
She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s witnesses in 1962. Her greatest love was worshiping Jehovah, God, and explaining her beliefs from the Bible to anyone that wanted to talk about the hope found in the Bible for a wonderful future by means of the Millennial (thousand years) of Christ’s reign that will restore the earth to a paradise, perfect health, as well as seeing our dead loved ones again by means of the resurrection.
She is survived by her brother Lowell (Ilonka) Nelson, twin sister Nona Nelson, sister Renae Nelson, niece Gloryana (Andrew) Shimek, nephew Shannon (Melissa) Nelson and their boys Parker and Drew Nelson.
Preceding her in death are both parents, infant sister Judith Lynn, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
We want to thank everyone from Hospice who helped. They were all kind, helpful, and thoughtful.
