Norman Hoyne, 81, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at his home in Kilkenny, MN. A memorial service will be held at 10am on Saturday, January 10, 2025 at the St. John’s Chapel in Albert Lea, MN. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Pastor Kent Otterman will be officiating.
Norman was born on October 21, 1944 to Alert and Lillian Hoyne in Albert Lea, MN. Norman made the Twin Lakes area his home for most of his life. He was baptized and confirmed at Lunder Lutheran Church, and was an active member of the Luther League
After attending District #66 School in Twin Lakes, he graduated from Albert High School. Norman was active in the local 4H program, along with being a part of the FFA. During his senior year, Norman was elected as the FFA President and remained active with the FFA even after high school.
After high school, he joined the Minnesota National Guard. He married Sandy Brown, and helped raise her two daughters Valerie and Melanie. They later separated. He worked various jobs including being a hog buyer for Wilson Foods, an electrician, worked for Carlson Craft, and with the DNR maintaining the state parks.
Norman was an ardent conservationist. He loved animals and would bring them into his care. He was a lifelong farmer, and cared for his cattle, chicken, and hogs like they were his own children. He had a passion for animal agriculture matched with compassion for the animals he raised.
Norman was survived in death by his sister Wanda Dorman, nephews Paul Dorman and Daniel (Mary Jo) Dorman; along with numerous cousins, and great nieces and nephews.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents Alert and Lillian Hoyne, brother Lyle, nephew Jay Dorman, brother-in-law Junior Dorman and sister-in-law Darlene Hoyne.
