Paul Edward Sorum

Paul Edward Sorum, age 93, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025. A funeral service will be held at Round Prairie Lutheran Church on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 10 AM. A visitation shall be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at Round Prairie Lutheran Church from 5-7 PM and for an hour prior to the service. Burial shall be held at Round Prairie Cemetery following the service. Pastor Kent Otterman shall be officiating.

Paul was born on May 16, 1932 to Herbert and Lois (Nelson) Sorum in Albert Lea Minnesota. Paul grew up on the family farm in Glenville, MN. He farmed with his father and then his son until his retirement. He was a dedicated dairy farmer who loved to drink milk, drinking over two gallons of milk each week on his own. Paul graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1950. He joined the military and was stationed for a time in Germany. While stationed at Fort Chaffee in Arkansas, he met the love of his life, Nancy, who was attending nursing school nearby. He said it was love at first sight and they married on June 22, 1958. Together they had three children Elaine, Russell, and Ellen. They lived together happily until Nancy’s passing in 2012. 

Paul was an active member of Round Prairie Lutheran Church and loved to help the church and its community however he could. As an Army veteran, he was proud of his service and was a member of the Glenville Legion.

Paul was a fun loving, dedicated father and grandfather; survived by his children Ellen (Terry) Lewis and Russell Sorum; grandchildren Justin (Casey) Sorum, Adam Sorum, Ashley (Jade) Riskedahl, Faith Sorum, Steven Lewis, Kevin (Hanna) Lewis, Geneil (Larky) White and Matthew Wabbel. He cherished 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by special friend, Darlene Rauenhorst.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Lois Sorum; infant brother; wife Nancy Sorum; daughter Elaine Wabbel; son-in-law Harold "Gus" Wabbel; grandson, Jesse Wabbel, and granddaughter, Summer Schmitz.
