Pauline “Polly” Nelson, 94, passed away at the Thorne Crest Care Center in Albert Lea, MN. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Bridge Community Church with visitation to be held for an hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery. Pastor Clayton Balsley will be officiating.
Pauline “Polly” Nelson was born to Elmer and Naomi Hansen on October 13, 1931 in Albert Lea. Polly grew up in the Glenville and Albert Lea area. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1949. She and Harland “Hud” Nelson were married in 1958. She worked for the Gamble Clinic, Lee Clinic and the Albert Lea Clinic for many years before retiring. She then worked for Thorne Crest Retirement Center. She also was bookkeeper for their business of Nelson Silo and Dairy.
Polly was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church for many years. She served on the Graceland Cemetery Board and was a member of the Naeve Hospital Auxiliary. She also enjoyed walking, yardwork, knitting, sewing, and especially golfing.
She is survived by her daughter Annette (Larry) Lindquist, grandchildren Tara Lindquist and Bill Lindquist, great grandchildren Hunter Nelsen and Hayden (Patrick) Junge, sister Althea Schmidt, sister-in-law Vera Nelson, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Hud Nelson, parents Elmer and Naomi Hansen, sisters Betty Jensen and Ramona Peterson, brother Roger Hansen, brothers-in-laws Richard Jensen, Richard Peterson, Marvin Schmidt, and Kenneth Nelson, sisters-in-law Violet Hansen and Viola Nelson, parents-in-law Otto and Inga Nelson, and grandson-in-law Phil Nelsen.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nursing staff at Thorne Crest and St. Croix Hospice.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Bridge Community Church or St. Croix Hospice.
