Listen to Obituary

Sarah Beth (Storby) Schumaker of Glenville, MN passed away on April 30, 2026 surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at the Crossroads Church in Albert Lea, MN. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Pastor Jeff Phelps will be officiating.

She was born on January 25, 1973 in Albert Lea, MN to Don and Marlene Storby. She graduated from Lake Mills Community School in 1991, and was involved in volleyball, chorus, band, Future Homemakers of America, cheerleading, track, swimming and was a water girl for the football team.

Sarah was known for her gift of gab and always expressed herself with her hands. She had a very infectious laugh that made everyone around her laugh as well. Her smile and her laugh lit up a room wherever she was. She had a heart of gold and cared about everyone.

She was blessed with a daughter, Ashley on January 18, 1992. She met and married the love of her life, Jason Schumaker on October 8, 2005. They were blessed with two children Jaden and Landon to make their family complete.

Sarah had various jobs throughout the years, coaching Northern Lights volleyball and bartending. She was a para-educator in Lake Mills and after settling in Glenville, she worked at the school as a janitor and para-educator as well. She also coached golf and volleyball at Glenville. She earned the nickname “Warden.”

Sarah was the baby of six kids, and always seemed to end up being the one who was the brunt of the jokes. She was such a good sport and took it very well. She knew it was all in love. Her family meant the world to her. She wasn’t sure she was ready to be a grandma, but she embraced it completely. You could see how she lit up when Ivy and Lydia were around. She adored them.

Sarah is survived by her husband Jason, son Landon and daughter Jaden, daughter Ashley (Brad), and granddaughters Ivy and Lydia of Northwood. Her siblings David, Kevin (Berdiene), Barb (Mark), Robert (LeAnn) and Marilyn (Darrin). Her aunt Jacque; cousins Cheryl and Chris (Troy). Her brothers-in-law Dan (Julie), and Mark (Stacia); mother-in-law Phyllis; along with many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Don and Marlene; her father-in-law Melvin; and her brother-in-law Todd.

The service was live-streamed, and can be watched below, or via the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home YouTube page at the following link: youtube.com/watch?v=oVfh6z6B_-4&feature=youtu.be
