Steven Orris Holland

Steven Orris Holland peacefully passed away at his home in Albert Lea, MN of cancer at age 79, on Sunday, April 26, 2026, just days before his 80th birthday. A Celebration of Life will be held from 11am-2pm on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home. Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home in Albert Lea, MN, has been honored with assisting the family.

Steve was born on May 2, 1946, in Forest City, Iowa, to Homer and Birdella Holland. He grew up in the Thompson, Iowa area, where he had many adventures with his friends. Later he moved to Albert Lea where he married Dianne Bangert and raised their 3 boys. He worked at Ventura foods for over 40 years.

In his free time, Steve loved gathering around the campfire, visiting the beautiful Myre-Big Island State Park, and going on fishing, camping, and hunting trips. He enjoyed visiting wineries with Dianne. Steve had a playful spirit and will be fondly remembered for the lighthearted pranks he pulled on family and friends, bringing smiles and laughter to those around him.

Steve and Dianne were married on November 20, 1966, a marriage that lasted nearly 60 years. After the boys left the house, Sparky joined the family and became the 4th ‘son’.

He is survived by his wife Dianne; children: Bruce (Charlene), Scott (Dorothy), and Brian (Bobbi). Six grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, Sister Arlene Olberg, sister-in-law Mary Beth Jones, brother-in-law Lowell (Paige) Bangert, and many nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents and Dianne’s parents, sister Shirley Ann Olsen and brothers-in-law, Paul Bangert, Michael Jones, Gerald Olsen, Peter Olberg and nephew Alan Olberg.
