Steven Edwin Sorensen

Steven E. Sorensen 76, passed away at his home in Alden, MN on January 30, 2026. A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Friday, February 6, 2026 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden, MN. A visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, along with an hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Kristi Mitchell will be officiating.

Steve was born in Albert Lea, MN on November 3, 1949 to Edwin and Juanita Sorensen. He grew up in Alden and graduated in 1968. Steve was drafted in the Army and sent to Vietnam. It was there that he came in contact with Agent Orange. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).

Steve came back to the home farm and farmed with his dad. He also worked at Streaters. He married Candace Johnson on September 22, 1979.

He is survived by his wife Candace; sister Vicki Hunnicutt; sister-in-law Nannette (Wayne) Hendrickson, brother-in-law Mark (Gail) Johnson; sister-in-law Candy Johnson; nieces and nephews Matt (Rose) Hunnicutt, Sarah (Dave) Rolf, Amy (Kory) Newman, Matt (Jenny) Hendrickson, Brent Hendrickson, Trent and Danielle Johnson, and Kenzie and Kacey Johnson. His great nieces and nephews Alexa, Ashley, and Alyvia Newman, Madison and Preston Hendrickson, Hope and Jacob Hendrickson, Jordan and Madison Hunnicutt, and Mallory and Emily Rolf.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents Eddie and Juanita; father and mother-in-law Robert and Harriet Johnson; brother-in-law Dennis Hunnicutt, brother-in-law Neil Johnson; and great niece Karissa Joy Hendrickson.
