Susan (Sue) Jean Hunnicutt, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, peacefully passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024, at the age of 77. Her legacy of love and kindness will forever be remembered by those whose lives she touched. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at the Community Lutheran Church in Geneva on Friday, March 22, at 11 AM, officiated by Pastor Leandra Anderson. Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 21, from 5-7 PM at Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home and also for an hour prior to the service at the church. Following the service, Susan will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetery in Albert Lea.

Sue was born in Albert Lea on January 10, 1947, to Raymond and Kathleen "Kacky" Nelson. She spent her formative years in Albert Lea, attending Trinity Lutheran Church and graduating from Albert Lea High School in 1965. On April 5, 1975, she married the love of her life, Gary Hunnicutt, and together, they were blessed with three wonderful children.

As a devoted member of the Community Lutheran Church in Geneva, Susan found fulfillment in serving her congregation. She dedicated her time as a Sunday school teacher, superintendent, and member of the Altar Guild. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and bringing comfort to those around her.

Sue had a passion for creativity and enjoyed various hobbies, including sewing, bowling, collecting cookbooks, and crafting. She possessed a sharp intellect and found joy in solving puzzles and playing games with her loved ones. Sue also treasured the friendships she formed through her involvement in Via de Cristo weekends.

Sue will be deeply missed by her husband, Gary; her children Amy (Alex) Kromminga, Eric Hunnicutt (Val Piechowski), and Lisa (Nick) Vreeman; and her grandchildren Duncan Kromminga (Madi Engbrecht), Zack Kromminga (Meghan Cooper), Paige Kromminga, and Makenzie Vreeman.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, her mother-in-law Dorothy, her father-in-law Otis, her grandsons Braden and Jaden Vreeman, and other beloved family members.
