Sylvia Marie Johnson

Funeral services for Sylvia M. Johnson, age 91, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church.  Rev. Shane Koepke will officiate. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Sylvia died Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Thorne Crest Senior Living Community.

Sylvia Marie Johnson was born on June 3, 1928 in Northwood, Iowa, the daughter of Gaylord and Pearl (Rosenberg) Christenson.  She graduated from Freeborn High School in 1947.  On September 9, 1951 Sylvia was married to Edwin Milton Johnson.  She worked as a bookkeeper at Freeborn County Co-op Oil and as a nurse’s aide at St. John’s Lutheran Home for 28 years.  Sylvia was very active with Grace Lutheran Church in the circle, quilting, sewing, Healthy Bones, and preparing meals.

Sylvia is survived by her husband, Edwin M. Johnson; and son, Gaylen M. Johnson.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Gaylord and Pearl.

Memorials preferred to Grace Lutheran Church or Greenwood Cemetery.
