Virgie Ann Murra

March 5, 1934 — April 11, 2024

Virgie Ann (Ehlert) Murra passed away peacefully Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester Mn.

Virgie Ann was born March 5, 1934 to Oliver and Alice (Kluender) Ehlert.

She attended school in Walters/Kiester and went on to finish her teaching certificate at Waldorf College.  Virgie Ann taught in Lakota IA where she met Cecil Murra (Buffalo Center IA).  Cecil and Virgie Ann married on June 24, 1956.  They made their home on the Oscar Nelson farm south of Blue Earth where Cecil farmed.  They had two girls Alice Kay and Linda Lee.

Virgie Ann had many jobs to supplement the good and bad years of farming.  Her favorite by far was the Etta C. Ross Memorial Library where she climbed the ranks from Children's Librarian to a combined Blue Earth City and Faribault County Rotation Librarian.   After doing both jobs for several years Virgie Ann was given the opportunity to go fulltime as Faribault County Rotation Librarian, she found joy and happiness in serving the greater community of Faribault County with the gift of books and knowledge.

After retiring Virgie Ann and Cecil enjoyed time with their grandson, T.J., many trips, a little polka dancing, and they were even adventurous to do a hot air balloon ride at the urging of their daughter's.

Virgie Ann had many hobbies that included such things as knitting, cooking/baking, reading and coloring.  She often colored pictures for her neighbors and friends at The Village Condo's and Bancroft Creek Estates in Albert Lea.

Virgie Ann was preceded in death by her mother Alice (Kluender) Ehlert and father Oliver Ehlert.

She is survived by her husband Cecil, daughters Alice Kay Murra and Linda Lee Bakken,  grandson Anthony Paul Diaz, Jr. (TJ), sister Mary Lee (Roger) Thompson, brother Charles (Pat) Ehlert, nephews - Dean, Burton and Paul Thompson,  Jeff Ehlert and niece - Sandra (Ehlert) Hanson

A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
