William “Bill” Stieler, 71 passed away on Thursday, Feb 27th, 2025 at the Thorne Crest Senior Living Community. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, MN, with a visitation held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Mary Fiel will be officiating.
Bill was born in Albert Lea, MN to Walter and Thora Stieler. He grew up and resided in Albert Lea his entire life. Bill attended Brown College and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in English. He was employed at Wedge Nursery and AirGas. He was interested in photography and submitted photos to motorcycle magazines of which some were accepted and published.
Bill loved to ride motorcycles. His first motorcycle was a Honda and later on he rode a Harley Davidson Sportster. He liked to take trips on it, including a memorable trip with his friends to South Dakota. His friendships with the “Dawn Acres Gang” brought a lot of joy to Bill. He loved to laugh at a good joke and he kept close to his faith. Bill was a member of First Lutheran Church, and did computer work for the church for several years. Bill loved summers on Albert Lea Lake, and was a captain of the Pelican Breeze for a few summers.
Bill is survived in death by his brother Paul, nephews Derek (Liz), Dan (Kim), Clinton (Kayla), and David, along with eight grand nieces and nephews. Bill is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Thora Stieler and his sister Carol Stieler Halverson.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Thorne Crest Senior Community and Mayo Hospice for the loving care they provided to Bill.
